Hey at that place!

I have my music folder gear up to display the creative person folders every bit "picture and video" folders in the properties, so that they will show up as folders with the album art shown equally images inside, every bit follows;

The problem is that not all of the folders brandish the album-fine art inside the folder similar that, but instead display a different icon, like this;

Inside the Artist folder, there are Album folders (also prepare every bit "pictures and documents" folders, and and then inside of those are the actual mp3s, which are prepare to show every bit "Music Details" in the backdrop.

At outset I thought the differences in folder icons might be because some creative person folders held more anthology folders than others, but that'due south non the case. Some of the correctly-showing folders have one album inside, some have many... the same is true for the incorrectly-showing folders. I went through and set each one'due south properties manually, and the properties are all the same, so I don't get why some are showing the art, and some aren't.

I tried the "customize>restore defaults" option, merely that did nothing. I've tried creating a new folder, moving the contents, then deleting the sometime binder, but the new binder as well shows the incorrect way if the erstwhile ane did.

If I try the aforementioned thing with one of the folders that works correctly, the new folder continues to show the album art (sometimes information technology chooses different covers to show in the preview).

Any ideas?

I'grand running Vista Home Premium on a less-than-a-yr-old system, with all of the updates and service pack stuff installed.

Have you tagged the non showing folders with the Album/Artist information with a program that uses ODBC to communicate Artist/Album information?

Besides, are the not displaying folders ones you may have downloaded from oh, say limewire?

Either of these two are likely the issue you're having but not necessarily.

Allow us know.

Well, I don't utilize Limewire at all, simply there are a mix of types on there (ripped from CD, downloaded, copied from friends), only none of the showing/non-showing are consistently any of those types. Some ripped ones show, some don't, some downloaded ones evidence, some don't...

I've recently gone through my entire drove to sort and properly tag everything. I utilize the program called mp3tag to do information technology, and pretty much all of my mp3s have been tagged with this i program. I even went and took 1 of the albums from a non-showing folder and re-tagged them all from scratch, but when I put them dorsum (fifty-fifty in a new Artist folder) they still didn't show the album fine art in the Creative person folder view.

The matter that I discover that'southward weird though, is that all of the anthology art shows up on the Anthology folders inside the Artist folder, only it's just the Artist folder that I'm having the problem with.

I'd say about i/fifth to 1/4 of the Creative person folders are not showing the art properly. The rest prove a thumbnail or 2 from the albums within.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply, but that doesn't actually tell me why the random non-showing folders are behaving the mode they are. I don't use WMP for my music collection, and I have personally paw-tagged each file. I've as well got the anthology-art tagged into the mp3 file itself, and not sitting in the folder as an albumart.jpg blazon file.

It's so capricious that it's driving me crazy! I've "bypassed" the trouble by just setting the "Music" folder to bear witness the band names as a listing instead of the folder icons, and so having the albums prove as icons inside the artists' folders. Incidentally, the album fine art DOES show upward for all of the anthology folders inside the artist folders -- it's just the artist folders that are showing art randomly or not.

I realize this isn't a ready, just a workaround, and so if anyone has any other ideas, it'd be bully to hear 'em.

The folders are ready upwardly like this;

Music>Artists>Albums>Songs.mp3

Even if there is no anthology specifically (just random files by the artist) I yet continue them in a "Misc albums" folder inside the creative person folder for the sake of consistency.

Then you said,

The thing that I notice that's weird though, is that all of the album art shows upward on the Album folders within the Artist folder, just information technology'southward just the Artist folder that I'thousand having the problem with.

Let'south go into some detail here. The icons being used for the Music binder, are special Shell Folder Icons. The bespeak here is that these are managed
First by the Windows operating Arrangement in use, and secondly by any music software that yous have is place to manage Media Information.

If you right click on the folder whose Album art is missing, you lot accept i of a number of options.

1) you can go into backdrop, and select the the Change Icon Button and click "Restore Defaults", which should put in place the
special beat Object used for the Music Binder. So, you can add together or modify the flick displayed by going to the Customize Tab
in properties and selecting on of the supported image Files for the Album in question. Hit utilize and hit OK. Choosing all defaults should
too restore anthology Fine art that is currently in utilise past the original album you stored.

2) If you oasis't inverse the Shell Object that the Icon is related to, and then yous could manage this information from inside Windows Media
Player, which has tools For THIS purpose. Get to Library, click on Album, and then Right Click the Album in question and click Find or Update Media
information which should correct this information

3) Depending on how yous're managing you Media Information, yous may accept to modify the way that this information is practical.
Further, If you imported music from one location to another using the original Icon that DOES Non support displaying Pictures on
the Folder icon itself, Y'all WON'T Exist ABLE TO VIEW THE ALBUM Fine art, even though information technology may actually be associated with the Albums themselves.

Thank you for the reply, but that doesn't actually tell me why the random non-showing folders are behaving the fashion they are. I don't apply WMP for my music collection, and I have personally hand-tagged each file. I've also got the album-art tagged into the mp3 file itself, and not sitting in the folder as an albumart.jpg type file.

Something in the way you are managing these folders is wrong. It sounds similar Windows is behaving the way it was meant to.

Try all three steps and let me know what y'all observe.
